Children’s sleep and rest play is an integral part of a child’s well-being and development.
Ideally, children less than 12 months should be getting around 14 hours of sleep per 24-hour cycle. However, 12-16 hours is considered in the realm of normal.
Example sleep schedule in a perfect world:
Collaborating with your child care provider to ensure your infant's rest requirements can also respect the needs of other children in care is crucial. While Little Lambs Home Daycare Inc. and its partnering Home Child Care Providers strive to create inclusive, caring and developmentally appropriate environments; we are limited in some capacities as our programs are run by a single educator. Children under 12 months old who require more sleep than can be accommodated or have sleep/rest times that cannot be managed while also supporting other children, may need to seek care within a centre-based program (more than one staff and dedicated infant rooms) or in-home nanny services.
